Building political power to improve health outcomes and promote healing for the Black South.

Our vision

We celebrate a South where political power is held by and for Black Southerners, where our collective quality of life is evidenced by dignity, respect, and well-being.

Collective definition of political power

Black South Rising centers Black Southerners to ensure our voices are heard, and our interests prioritized over violent political and corporate systems. Through education, organizing, and leadership, through voting, advocacy, mutual aid, and resource sharing.

What we do

Building a political home for “thought leadership,” civic engagement; education; policy advocacy; leadership development and reimagining our future.

Promoting healing and well-being of the Black South through traditional cultural beliefs and practices.

Facilitating a network or “table” of southern organizations and individuals to achieve a “it takes a village approach,” to increase access to resources, systems change, knowledge sharing, and power building.

Mobilizing and coalition work to organize and base building.

“We have risen. We know what we must do to secure our rights as human beings and citizens of this country, and we will resist every attempt from those who seek to deny us.”
